What is Nomophobia

Nomophobia is a term used to describe the fear or anxiety of being without a mobile phone or being unable to use it. The term is a combination of “no-mobile-phone phobia.”

Nomophobia can lead to feelings of panic, anxiety, or distress when a person is separated from their phone or when their phone is out of battery or not functioning correctly. The fear of missing out (FOMO) and the need to stay connected with others can contribute to nomophobia.

While nomophobia is not an official diagnosis in the DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders), it can still impact a person’s mental health and daily life. It is essential to find a balance between using technology and taking breaks from it to reduce the risk of developing nomophobia or other related issues.
