Spicy Oven-Fried Chicken

Spicy oven-fried chicken is a delicious and healthier alternative to traditional fried chicken. It’s made with a crispy coating and flavorful spices, but is baked in the oven instead of deep-fried. Here’s a recipe to try at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Cut chicken into strips or nuggets.
  3. In a shallow dish, mix together flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, basil, and oregano.
  4. In another shallow dish, beat together egg and milk.
  5. In a third shallow dish, place panko breadcrumbs.
  6. Dip chicken strips/nuggets into the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  7. Dip into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  8. Finally, coat in panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  9. Place coated chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  10. Lightly spray chicken with cooking spray.
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
