Cranberry Ginger Applesauce Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 5 medium apples (a mix of sweet and tart varieties)
- 1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the apples, cranberries, brown sugar, water, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a lid.
- Cook the applesauce for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and the cranberries have burst.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Using an immersion blender or food processor, puree the mixture until smooth.
- Serve warm or chilled.
