Ingredients:
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 2 cups water
- 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds

- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- Optional: chopped fresh herbs such as parsley, cilantro or mint for garnish
Instructions:
- Rinse the basmati rice in a fine-mesh strainer and drain well.
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the rice to the saucepan and stir well.
- Cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer the rice for 18-20 minutes, or until the water has been absorbed and the rice is tender.
- While the rice is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat.
