Exercises that Target Muscles for Better Posture

Maintaining good posture is important for keeping your spine in proper alignment and reducing your risk of developing back pain.   1. Planks: Planks are a great way to strengthen your core muscles, which are essential for good posture. Begin in a push-up position, with your arms straight and your body in a straight line. Hold this position for 30 seconds, and gradually increase the amount of time you hold it.
  2. Bird dog: This exercise targets the muscles in your back and hips that help with posture. Begin on your hands and knees, with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Slowly extend your right arm and left leg until they are in a straight line with your body. Hold for a few seconds, and then return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side.
